originally, this was supposed to be an audio recording, but WordPress wasn’t letting me add the recording due to “Security Reasons”. I decided to write about What Art really is and some misconceptions about it.
A lot of the time when I was at school and there was a guest artist, or whenever we went on an art related field trip with an artist, they would start by asking everybody to define art. Almost everybody said it was a way to express yourself. I disagree. Obviously, a lot of the time that is the case for most artists, myself included. However, sometimes, I make art just so that I can have something cool to hang up in my room. I’m not always trying to express myself in my concept art either. If the goal of an artwork isn’t to express yourself, is it still art? In the online dictionary, art is defined like this: the expression or application of human creative skill and imagination, typically in a visual form such as painting or sculpture, producing works to be appreciated primarily for their beauty or emotional power. It turns out that i’m not wrong. It doesn’t have to be an expression, it can sometimes be an application. Another thing that I disagree with is that how good you are at art is based on how good you are with the technical part of art. I think that it’s more about creativity. Whenever I start to worry too much about how neat my art is, I like to tell myself that a good idea poorly executed is a lot better than a bad idea well executed. Anyways, that was just a random thought that I had that I wanted to share. I hope that I’ve given you something to think about.
I have a lot of new wacky projects coming soon, so stay tuned!
